An adequate supply of water is essential for proper plant establishment and growth. Due to the unreliability of rainfall it is the responsibility of the plant owner to provide the proper amount to the plant.
Newly planted and transplanted plants should be watered until they become well established in the landscape.
It takes approximately two full seasons for a plant to become well established. Therefore it is imperative to continue to water for the two seasons after the plant has been planted to insure proper establishment.

Water:
early morning or evening to reduce loss of water by evaporation
at the base of the plant- using a water wand helps to disperse the water more evenly over the root area
slowly (¼ speed of hose) in order for the water to seep deep into the soil
try not to let droplets of water accumulate on plant foliage (it takes approximately 2 hours for foliage to dry in direct sun)
always water thoroughly, so the water is available deep in the soil for uptake by the roots of the plant.
it is better to water infrequently in large amounts than to apply a little water often.
